London, ( Pal Telegraph) - Apple will begin taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5 on September 12 ahead an official roll-out of the device in the US on September 21, according to reports.
This is still very much a rumour, however, with the news coming via iMore – the source of the initial September 12 launch date rumour. So please do take this with a pinch of salt. Particularly since sources, no matter how trustworthy, can still get it wrong.
‘A couple of weeks ago iMore reported that Apple would be holding their iPhone 5 event on September 12, 2012. We've since learned that iPhone 5 pre-orders are currently planned to begin that same day, at least in the U.S. Release is still planned for 9 days later, on September 21, 2012.’
iMore says the information comes from sources that have provided it with ‘accurate information in the past,’ and that Apple will do two rounds of iPhone 5 releases: a US-only launch on September 21 followed by a worldwide rollout on October 5.
Apple’s component suppliers reported a record month of business for July, according to Topeka Capital Markets, as the company gears up for launch of its iPhone 5 and iPad Mini. Could this be down to Apple demanding a rapid turn around on its iPhone 5 units in order to get them to market just nine days after launch?
‘This July represents the strongest month-over-month sales growth of any July we have on record over the past eight years for the Apple Monitor,’ said analyst Brian White.
‘It was well above the 7 per cent growth experienced last July, supporting our view of an earlier launch of the iPhone 5 versus the iPhone 4S last October.’
More news as we get it – and belive us, there will be more.
